What is the Hunter 85?

The Hunter 85 is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .308 with a documented six-round capacity. It accepts a rifle suppressor and occupies the controlled heavy-rifle role rather than the rapid-fire role of the M14.

The bolt cycle creates a mandatory pause after each shot. That delay is manageable from a prepared lane and dangerous when several threats have already reached melee distance.

Fandom records one headshot against a normal zombie and two against a red zombie in the documented build. Use those figures for relative comparison with other rifles, not as permanent values after later firearm overhauls.

How should you use the Hunter 85?

Fire from behind squadmates or from a clear retreat route. Prioritize targets that justify the .308 cartridge, then cycle the bolt while moving or checking the next lane.

Avoid spending heavy ammunition on routine isolated zombies when a melee weapon or sidearm can solve the same problem. Reload before a defense event, because correcting an empty rifle during a breach is slow.
